MyLahore boss becomes Bradford Hospitals Charity’s first-ever ambassador

Bradford Hospitals Charity has appointed Ishfaq Farooq as its first-ever official ambassador.

The Bradford-born entrepreneur and community leader is best known as one of the founders/directors of MyLahore, the award-winning family-run restaurant group. Alongside his business success, Ishfaq is widely recognised for his long-standing commitment to community, charity and public service.

He has supported the work of Bradford Hospitals Charity for more than a decade — from supplying meals to frontline staff and patients, to donating furniture and equipment that enhance patient care and experience.

“I am honoured to be the very first ambassador for Bradford Hospitals Chairty and I’m excited to support the team as it continues to grow,” Ishfaq said. “I’m passionate about raising awareness, championing causes, and supporting fundraising efforts for the benefit of patients, staff and the wider community. Bradford is my home, and having used its services for generations, Bradford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is like family."

Laura Riach, Director of Bradford Hospitals Charity, welcomed the appointment, saying: “I couldn’t think of anyone better to name as our first ambassador. Ishfaq has been unbelievably generous and supportive of the charity for more than ten years.

“We are excited to work with him, especially as we launch our ‘Home from Home’ appeal — building free accommodation for families whose premature or unwell babies are being cared for in Bradford Royal Infirmary’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This is a cause very close to his heart.”

The Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust executive team and the charity’s Trustees also endorsed the move, noting that the support of respected local business leaders helps raise the profile of the charity’s vital work for patients, families and NHS staff across the district.

What is Bradford Hospitals Charity?

Bradford Hospitals Charity is the official charity partner of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It works closely with the Trust’s 8,000 staff to support projects not funded by the NHS, helping relieve pressure on teams and improving the experience of patients and their families.

Through donations, the charity funds equipment, research, services and facilities that go above and beyond standard NHS provision. With more regular supporters, it could do even more to back initiatives that transform care across Bradford’s hospitals.
