ASDA to raise a cuppa and vital funds for Bradford Hospitals Charity
Staff at supermarket giant ASDA will be clinking cups to celebrate our beloved NHS when they hold their NHS Big 7Tea party this Friday, 15 June!
The ASDA store in Cemetery Road, Bradford, is planning a series of fundraising events for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, which works with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to support medical equipment, research and enhancements. ASDA’s NHS Big 7Tea party will take place this Friday, 15 June,11am to 2pm, in the café at ASDA, Cemetery Road.
The NHS Big 7Tea is a UK-wide event where people will get together for a cuppa and cake to celebrate 70 years of the NHS. A number of organisations across Bradford, including schools and companies, have signed up to take part in the celebration. Wards and departments at Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospital are also busy organising Big 7Tea parties, with a special celebrity ‘bake-off’ planned at Bradford Royal Infirmary for Tuesday, 3 July.
While the NHS officially turns 70 on 5 July 2018, Big 7Tea parties have been planned throughout June and July.
Ingrid Fernandes, Community Champion at ASDA Cemetery Road, said: “It is very important for us to give back to our community. Our customers use the NHS and so we want to support it in any way we can. We would like to invite all our customers to come and join us on Friday, 15 June to raise a toast to the NHS and raise money for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity!”
Hayley Collis, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, said: “We are delighted that ASDA is supporting the NHS Big 7Tea and our charity! We are a nation of tea lovers, so what better way to celebrate our beloved NHS than with a cuppa and cake?
“Why not join ASDA in organising a tea party? It’s a great opportunity for a get-together and to support your local hospitals.”
Ingrid is one of 390 ASDA community champions across the UK to back the NHS Big 7Tea.
Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is one of more than 250 NHS charities based around the UK. It supports the strategic direction of BTHFT by funding projects which go over and above what he NHS provides. The charity aims to provide #BestForBradford!
Last year, a new £28million wing opened at Bradford Royal Infirmary, which was part of a £75m investment to improve patient care across our hospitals. It provides world-class facilities for the elderly, children and a brand new intensive care unit. Bradford Hospitals’ Charity donations enabled the Trust to create family friendly environments, state-of-the-art equipment and innovative distraction toys and games for young people.
With the support of Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, BTHFT was also able to provide more cots, including intensive care and high dependency cots, new family accommodation, a revamped counselling suite and a dedicated room for mothers to express milk for pre-term babies when the new neonatal unit opened in 2015.
