Managing Director Mike Robinson would like to dedicate the star in loving memory of his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Allan Newall, who both very tragically passed away after contracting Covid-19.

The couple spent their working lives as foster parents to many children, all of whom had severe disabilities. When they died just one month apart, in March and April 2020, they left behind a foster child who had been in their care for many years and become a much loved family member. To ensure she was kept within the family, Barbara and Allan’s daughter and son-in-law took over the care of the child.

Mike Robinson said he wanted to thank and support the NHS and its staff or all their fabulous work throughout the pandemic and for keeping the company busy for almost 37 years.

Most of Mike’s staff were placed on furlough throughout the pandemic and so he rolled up his sleeves and returned to working on site himself. The first time he had been site-based since completing his apprenticeship in 1980!

He said: “I spent in the region of nine weeks working on site and, as most of the work was COVID-related, I found it very rewarding.

“After the loss of my sister and brother-in-law, plus a number of other friends, my main objective was that I wanted to fight this awful virus.

“During the nine weeks on site, I witnessed NHS staff working on COVID wards for long hours in full PPE, which made what I was doing look easy. I had to wear PPE for short periods whilst on the wards, which was difficult, but ward based staff were wearing this full-time.”
